Is there anything about this article that bothers you?

This article kind of bothers me. I just don't think we need to get this crazy about technology for churches. It just seems like its taking things a little "over the top".

Albert,
I applaud churches who honestly looking to shift the focus from traditional ways to engaging our culture. In many areas of our culture the church is barely a foot note when Jesus should be the primary focus. The marginalized church is being uprooted by the consumer culture that we live in. In fact we now see church through our culture colored lenses.

We now “shop” for a church! We want a church that meets our needs, provides entertainment (the worship we like, a well thought out sermon including humor and flamboyant delivery, etc.) and we want it to happen quickly. You can now wake up turn on your pod cast, TV or radio and check the religious requirement box in your busy schedule. The Las Vegas drive in chapel can now come to your home!

What is missing is true connection. Steve Fry writes “anyone can thin they see God – from a distance”. But we have become so uncomfortable with true intimacy and vulnerability. Those qualities are something you can’t get online. Church is the idea of God, not man. He designed us for intimacy. Even before the fall of man God knew it was not good for man to be alone. Many us of want quality time with God but are uneasy with the solitude, for our answered questions, our unresolved hurts and unconfessed sins.

Like you, I am concerned that churches might ver into the mistake of becoming market driven. That technology would replace true intimacy. We, as the body of Christ, offer something that our culture is crying out for! Truth and intimacy! Connecting at a level that is deeper that the mile wide, inch thick substance where most attempt to survive. It abounds at the feet of Jesus. Only His grace and forgiveness can give us the freedom to connect. Only our designer can give His design purpose, meaning and value!
